Côte-Rôtie Bernard Burgaud
Information
About the producer

Domaine de Bernard Burgaud spans 4 hectares across several lieux-dits in the Ampuis commune. The average age of the Syrah vines is 30 years and the geography of the vineyard makes it impossible to use any machines. The wines are matured in oak barrels (20% new) and the wines are racked every three months in order to help clarify the wines naturally. After 15 months, the wine is bottled. Bernard Burgaud chooses not to work on a parcel by parcel basis but nonetheless treats his vines with the same great care and attention to help them best reflect their terroir.

About the wine

The quality of this Côte-Rôtie is seen in the rigour of the work at the vineyard which is entirely manual. Made from 100% Syrah, it exudes lovely, spicy aromas. The wine has a fine tannic structure, which nevertheless remains well controlled, as is often the case in the northern Rhône Valley.
