Information
Pomerol is famous all over the world for its exceptional terroir, but is in fact a very small appellation (800 hectares). The diverse mixture of gravel and smooth pebbles, brought by rivers from the Massif Central, is reflected in the complexity of the wines. Despite varied terroirs (there are four main areas: sand towards Libourne; gravel mixed with sand and clay towards Saint Emilion, gravel and clay in the centre, and finer gravel to the north) the wines of Pomerol are generally harmonious in their structure. Pomerols have the unusual advantage of being able to be drunk young while at the same time having a great capacity to improve with age.
Château Bourgneuf Vayron's wines are sold for export under the Château Bourgneuf label. Managed with great care by the Vayron family since 1821, this very well-located property has always produced wines of excellent quality, in a classic, harmonious Pomerol style, which are at their peak after five to ten years in the cellar. The wines have a beautiful garnet colour and a ripe bouquet with notes of peaches. On the palate, they are well-rounded, smooth and perfectly balanced. The quality of production has been extremely consistent for several years, and prices have remained accessible compared to most of the neighbouring properties.
