Information
Jean-Claude and Noël safeguard the 17-hectare property created bit by bit by their grandfather Pierre Ramonet in the 1920s, a Burgundian figure. Noël (in the cellar) and Jean-Claude (in the vineyard) took over the domain in 1984. They are the third generation and want to get the best out of the terroir. It is one of the most renowned domain of the appellation for both quality and finesse of its wines.
White wines are now Chassagne-Montrachet’s main output. In the 315 hectares of the appellation, red wines only represent just about 50% of productions, compared to 60 to 70% in the 1980s. In the finest terroirs, white Chassagne-Montrachet is simply grandiose: the premiers and grands crus are certainly among the best of Burgundy, such as this Premier Cru Ruchottes from Ramonet. It combines texture, power and finesse and would amply reward a decade or so of aging at least. Its length on the palate is almost unparalleled.
