Information
Vougeot is the smallest municipality in the Côte de Nuits. The name Vougeot comes from the river that runs through the appellation, the Vouge. Other than the 50 hectares of the iconic Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, only a dozen hectares remain, of which four climats are premiers crus (le Clos de la Perrière, le Clos Blanc, Les Crâs, Les Petits Vougeots). The most interesting are those closest to the Clos, to the north. Lastly, 2.5 hectares of Vougeot Premier Cru produce white wines such as the Clos Blanc de Vougeot. These wines have a floral bouquet (acacia and hawthorn), aromas of citrus fruit, and sometimes mango. A hint of minerality is also common.
