About the producer

Château Pierheim belongs to the Vignobles Pierre Emmanuel group, founded in 2000. Given its small scale, most of the tasks are done by hand. The 60-year-old vines are farmed following environmentally-friendly methods, cultivated on soils of old sands, gravel and ferruginous sandstone. The wines – 100% Merlot – produced by this domain are made to be tasted young.

About the wine

This wine from Château Pierhem is particularly flavourful in its youth. Supported by a good tannic structure, it pairs well with various meats, vegetables and cheeses. As foe the winemaking, the domaine vinifies Merlot in thermoregulated stainless steel vats. Stirring of the lees ensures that the tannins are supple. Malolactic fermentation and elevage both take place in oak barriques (50% new), the latter lasting between 16 to 18 months.
