Loire Valley | 2008 vintage
2008 was a hard year in the Vallée de la Loire too, with difficult weather conditions. A rainy spring featuring violent storms before the summer had a heavy impact on the health of the vines. In addition, fairly cool temperatures with some cases of springtime frost in certain regions resulted in a vintage that was set to be very tricky. Winemakers that could decided to wait until September to harvest, thus enjoying better weather conditions. Ultimately, the dry whites here are dense, clear and a success. The reds are a more mixed bunch, and should be chosen with care. The sweet wines are rare but reveal fantastic structure.
