Bordeaux | 1991 vintage
An average vintage with a sparse harvest. Hard frosts in the spring devastated most of the Bordeaux vineyards. The late appearance of new buds was rewarded by a lovely summer, but the heavy rain in September spoilt the perfectly ripe grapes. Many domains downgraded their entire harvest. The wines are supple and pleasant but lacking in concentration. The Pauillac, Saint-Julien and Saint-Estèphe appellations produced the best wines. The dry white wines are thin. The sweet wines are light and devoid of character.
