Bordeaux | 1966 vintage
An outstanding vintage. Ideal weather conditions and a dry and sunny September produced dense and colourful wines. There was a lot of enthusiasm for these wines when they came out, but they did not live up to expectations. Certain crus have lost their fruitiness. They have evolved very little and today have proved to be very tannic and austere. However, there are some superb wines such as Latour, Léoville Las-Cases and la Mission Haut-Brion that simply ooze charm and balance. The sweet wines are of average quality due to the unfavourable weather conditions that prevented the development of noble rot.
