Bordeaux | 1959 vintage
An outstanding vintage. This exceptional vintage, severely criticised when it first appeared on the market due to its low acidity, produced full-bodied, opulent wines with an amazing cellaring capacity. Following a dry and hot summer, the grapes were perfectly ripe when harvested and gave rise to voluptuous wines. The Saint-Julien and Pauillac positively shine with elegance and amplitude. The Lafite-Rothschild is legendary for its majestic bouquet. The harvest was sparse in the Sauternes region, but nevertheless produced excellent wines, very rich and extremely concentrated. These sumptuous crus have gorgeously intense aromas.
