Bordeaux | 1947 vintage
An outstanding year with exceptionally rich wines. An extremely hot July, August and September gave rise to concentrated and intense wines similar to port. A very abundant harvest. The Pomerols and Saint Emilions were by far the best wines of this vintage. Similar to the legendary Pétrus or Cheval Blanc, the wines are soft and rich. However, the Médoc wines, excellent in their early years, were spoilt by their high sugar content. There were some exceptional Sauternes. These wines develop a bouquet of flavours that is deep, powerful and delicate all at once. Nature's perfect extravagance.
