        Sainte-Lucie

Domaine Sainte Lucie was a family affair from 1880 to 1980. It was towards the end of the 1880s that a certain Vallarino purchased the property before passing it on to his daughter and son-in-law, Michel Nicolas, in 1920. Their sons, Jean, Jacques and Pierre managed the vineyard and winery until 1990, when it was split up. On this occasion, the oak casks containing the property's precious reserves were transferred to the three respective cellars of the Nicolas children. More recently, a meticulous bottling, worthy of the quality of these wines was carried out with a view to their sale. Domaine Sainte Lucie, near Canohès, lies on 140 hectares consisting of loess from the Aspres hills and two pebbly terraces from the Têt and Tech rivers. In terms of grape varieties, the property has been shaped by the two world wars. In 1918, at the end of the First World War, Michel Nicolas decided to specialize in Vins Doux de Rivesaltes, produced mainly from Grenache Gris, Grenache Blanc, and Malvoisie du Roussillon. After the Second World War, some Macabeo and Muscat of Alexandria vines were planted.
