        Père Magloire

Père Magloire Calvados was founded in 1821. It is named after the Norman innkeeper Dominique Magloire, who was famous for serving excellent Calvados. In the early 20th century, Père Magloire became extremely popular, particularly thanks to the emerging trend for advertising, which the brand quickly adopted. It could be seen on buses, planes, cinema screens and even on the plane of a Norman member of the Free French Air Forces during the Second World War. Debris-Dulac—which owned Père Magloire—was bought by the Veuve Clicquot Ponsardin champagne house in 1968, then by a family-owned Norman group. Since 2007, Père Magloir has been part of the Spirit France group. The brand produces Calvados and Calvados Pays d’Auge from a hundred varieties of apples, aged in Forêt de Tronçais oak casks. It is still one of the top-selling Calvados in France.
