Wine for sale: Montenidoli
Montenidoli
This magnificent Tuscan winery is where Elisabetta Faguioli has been producing fine wines with native varieties for over 50 years.
Montenidoli is nestled between Florence and Sienna, high on a hill overlooking San Gimignano. When they arrived in 1965, the owners discovered an abandoned terroir. Vines, shrubs and olive trees covered the land. They decided to use natural methods the bring order back to the estate, enlisting the help of rabbits to fertilise the soil and worms to aerate it. The vines are planted on two types of soils. At the top of the hill, it’s sandy, while at the bottom of the hill, it is rich in limestone and marine sediment. This gives the vines unique and distinct flavours. Olive trees and other trees continue to grow on the estate too. This Italian wine producer grows native varieties such as Sangiovese and Vernaccia which capture the essence of this sunny terroir.
