Wine for sale: Domaine Lassarat

Domaine Lassarat
This 11-hectare estate is meticulously cared for by a father and his son, using methods which respect the terroir for rich, full-bodied wines.
At Domaine Lassarat, the winemaking tradition has been handed down from father to son. At just 22 years old Roger Lassarat started working on the vineyard in Vergisson, along the border of the Beaujolais region and between the Rock of Vergisson and the Rock of Solutré. His son, Pierre Henri, followed quickly in his footsteps, and at only 14 years old he replaced his father when becoming the one to present the wines. Together, they produce 80,000 bottles per year with13 vintages over four different appellations: Macon-Vergisson, Saint-Véran, Pouilly-Fuissé and Moulin à Vent. The plots on the 11 hectares are carefully divided to respect the specific qualities of each terroir so that they can flourish in each cuvée. The grapes are hand-harvested, then delicately pressed before ageing in French oak casks. The winemakers leave the native yeast during the fermentation process to preserve the unique identity of the terroir. The father and son team have also implemented environmentally friendly methods without sacrificing quality. The estate’s philosophy is to “obtain the best of what nature has to offer”. The result is rich and full-bodied wines which reflect the diversity of the terroir and vintages from which they are produced.
