Château Thivin

Château Thivin, one of the oldest estates in the Beaujolais, saw a turning point with the arrival of Claude Thivin in 1953. Under his guidance, the Côte de Brouilly appellation underwent spectacular renewal. Healthy methods of viticulture and long élevages result in harmonious cuvées that are delicious young yet perfectly made for aging. A renowned signature amongst those in the know.

Château Thivin is situated in the heart of Beaujolais, around the hill of Brouilly. The origins of this domain date back to the 12th century and the the first part of the manor house was built in the 14th century. In 1877, Zaccharie Geoffray bought Château Thivin at an auction with just under two hectacres of vines. It was his son Claude who really grew the domain from 1894. The next Claude, son of the first, took over the domain and dedicated himself to wine prodution with his wife Yvonne. Having not had children themselves, it was their nephew Claude who then took over the domain before handing it over to his own son Claude-Edouarde in 2007, thus keeping it in the family. The vineyard now covers 27 hectacres and is cultivaed with great care and without the use of insecticide. In the chai, the wines are matured in oak casks in beautiful vaulted cellars. Vinifications are carried out plot by plot. Château Thivin produces some of the best wine in the region thanks to their ability to express the terroir. They are fleshy with extremely delicate tannins.
