Château Peyrabon

The first records of Château Peyrabon date back to 1776. Since then, this property in Pauillac has had numerous owners, who have gradually expanded it and developed its reputation. The most famous was a Monsieur Roux, who acquired it in 1865, and held a concert in honour of his friend, Queen Victoria. More recently, the Babeau family, who owned the Château from 1958 to 1998, replanted all the vinestocks after the frosts of 1956. This wine, kept by the former owners for their friends, had the unusual privilege of not having been sold in the open market for more than a century, thereby preventing it from developing the reputation that it deserved. Following multiple acquisitions, the domaine now has 56 hectares of red wine varieties, with 63% Cabernet Sauvignon, 31% Merlot, 4% Cabernet Franc and 2% Petit Verdot. The château produces two wines. The first comes under the Haut-Médoc appellation, while the second, La Fleur Peyrabon, is made from four hectares of selected plots in the Pauillac appellation.
