Château La Gomerie

This 2.5 hectare property located in Saint-Emilion on mostly clayey-sandy terroirs at the foot of a hill has been owned by Geìrard and Dominique Bécot (Beau-Séjour-Bécot) since 1995. The vineyard is the former enclosure of Fayse abbey, to which La Gomerie manor house is attached. The wine produced at Château La Gomerie is pure Merlot produced predominantly on sandy soils with clay and iron residues in the subsoil, and on the asteries limestone plateau at Beau-Séjour Bécot. This micro-cuvée is produced by teams at the Château Beauséjour-Bécot, with the help of oenologist Michel Rolland. The renowned consultant uses classic “garagiste” winemaking techniques: vines aged approximately forty years old are meticulously tended, yields are strictly regulated and harvesting takes place as late as possible. The wine is aged for twenty months in new barrels. The second wine is Mademoiselle La Gomerie. It is produced in very small quantities and such is the quality of this cuvée lauded by critics for its sumptuous silkiness that it is almost unobtainable on the French market.
