L'Aurage 2017
The wine
The Merlot and Cabernet Franc vines behind this wine are cultivated in line with sustainable methods. The grapes, picked by hand, are completely destemmed and left to macerate for one month to extract flavours, pigments and tannins. Elevage in new oak lasts 20 months. Flavourful and well balanced, this wine boasts jammy fruit aromas, silky tannins and a long finish that makes it an ideal pairing with meat.
About the Producer Aurage
Domaine de l'Aurage has been owned by Caroline and Louis Mijtavile since 2006. Having worked as a youngster at Tetre-Roteboeuf, he wanted to work for himself by creating his own domain. The 20-hectare domain is located in the Côtes-de-Castillon appellation, not far from Saint-Emilion. Merlot (85%) and Cabernet Franc (15%) grow peacefully on the cool clay-limestone soils and are grown sustainably. 2007 is the domain's first vintage.
