Château Rochebelle Grand Cru Classé 1988
The wine
Château Rochebelle is a Saint-Emilion grand cru that unites the appellations principle grape varieties: Merlot and Cabernet-Franc. Both originate from the limestone plateau in Saint-Emilion that gives good drainage. Handpicked and meticulously sorted, that grapes that go into this wine are vinified with very little human intervention. The wine is then aged slowly in the château’s old cellars. The result: an incomparable wine that balances power and finesse with gentle fruit and spiced notes. One thing is certain, this is a wine built to last many years.
About the Producer Rochebelle
Château Rochebelle lies on Saint-Emilion's limestone plain, just above Château Tertre Roteboeuf. The same family has managed the property since the mid-19th century. The vines and surrounding environment are protected thanks to grass growing between the rows. The vines are pruned in order to optimise the sap flow and chemical products are forbidden. The wines age in old cellars dug into the property which date back to the 18th century.
