Chambolle-Musigny La Combe d'Orveau Anne Gros 1996
The wine
Produced from a parcel at the southern borders of Chambolle and Vosne-Romanée, Chambolle Musigny La Combe d'Orveau takes its name from "Val d’Or" meaning a little, golden valley. The parcel faces east and has a very distinctive climate with cold winters, warm summers, and damp autumns. The wine is made from 20-year-old vines planted on pebbly, white marl, scree-rich soil. With its notes of red fruit and violets, it is elegant and refined. It can be drunk relatively young.
About the Producer Anne Gros
When she took over from her father in 1988, as she was only 18, Anne Gros was a young energetic woman, more interested in books than in becoming a winemaker! Nevertheless, she took on alone the work in the vines and was responsible for vinification and managing the business. In 1990 she bottled all of the harvest and connoisseurs around the world discovered the strength, finesse, delicateness and precision of her wines. The domain was officially established in 1995. Within ten years, she made it into one of the best and most renowned domains from the Côte de Nuits. Besides Clos Vougeot, Vosne Romanée and Chambolle Musigny, other appellations from new plots were added to the range (Hautes Côtes de Nuits et Bourgogne for example).
