Barolo DOCG Pio Cesare 1967
The wine
This Barolo is a magnificent interpretation of Nebbiolo, revealing an extensive aromatic palette characteristic of that grape. It features notes of stewed red berries, dried flowers and nuts (walnut, almond). The attack is round and indulgent, with ripe fruit provided with structure by the refined tannins. Definitely a wine to be kept for several years.
About the Producer Pio Cesare
The domaine owes its name to Cesare Pio, one of the first people to have faith in the potential of Piedmont appellations such Barolo, Barbaresco and Barbera. In the late 19th century, he devoted himself to raising the profile of these appellations. Since it was founded in 1881, the domaine has been managed by five generations of the same family. It currently makes prestigious appellations from its 50 hectares of vines, deliberately producing small quantities.
