Lot presentation
Château de Bel-Air 1989
The wine
Very expressive, Lalande-de-Pomerol's wines tend to develop a powerful, rich bouquet. On the palate, there is a definite tannic presence on the attack, however the wine's warm character quickly develops and the tannins become more velvety.
About the Producer Château Bel Air (Lalande-de-Pomerol)
Created, like its neighbour Pomerol, by the Knights Hospitaller of the Order of Saint John, this 1120 hectare area of vines is planted with traditional Bordeaux grape varieties and produces powerful, expressive wines. The best can compete with those of Saint Emilion and Pomerol, from which they are separated by the Barbanne River. The terroir consists of alluvial terraces and covers the two communes of Lalande-de-Pomerol and Néac. The area presents fairly diverse landscapes: to the west there are Lalande's plains, while Néac is more hilly.
