The wine
Vougeot is the smallest municipality in the Côte de Nuits. The name Vougeot comes from the river that runs through the appellation, the Vouge. Other than the 50 hectares of the iconic Clos de Vougeot Grand Cru, only a dozen hectares remain, of which four climats are premiers crus (le Clos de la Perrière, le Clos Blanc, Les Crâs, Les Petits Vougeots). Five hectares are also classed as Villages wines. Le Vougeot Village has a rather dry profile with a fleshy nuance typical of Chardonnay in the Côte de Nuits.
About the Producer Ramonet
Jean-Claude and Noël safeguard the 17-hectare property created bit by bit by their grandfather Pierre Ramonet in the 1920s, a Burgundian figure. Noël (in the cellar) and Jean-Claude (in the vineyard) took over the domain in 1984. They are the third generation and want to get the best out of the terroir. It is one of the most renowned domain of the appellation for both quality and finesse of its wines.
