Meursault 1er Cru Bouchères Comtes Lafon (Domaine des) 2013
The wine
No need to remind you that Domaine des Comtes Lafon, now run by Dominique Lafon, is a veritable legend in the Côte de Beaune region. The traditional growing methods used here have been cultivated with talent, and the domain has organic certification. Some of their practices are inspired by biodynamics, too.
This cuvée has a golden hue and a complex nose. It carries notes of white fruit (apple, pear, peach), white flowers, hawthorn, lime, fresh almond, and a hint of patisserie. Its palate offers a superb balance of rich texture and striking minerality. This persistent cuvée can be enjoyed within ten years, served with unctuous dishes like a creamy risotto, fish, or a vegetable flan.
About the Producer Comtes Lafon
There is one domain in Meursault that stands out for both its quality and resulting worldwide reputation: Domaine des Comtes Lafon. Established at the beginning of the 19th century by a wealthy amateur called Jules Lafon, the house is today directed by his great grandson, Dominique Lafon. It uses the same family traditions and covers 13 appellations. The domain has for a long time aimed to preserve the environment in its winemaking process. It now uses biodynamics and was officially classified "organic" in 1998.
