Australie Wildman Pinot noir Lucy Margaux 2017
The wine
This Australian Pinot noir comes from the vines of domain Lucy Margaux which is found in the Adelaide region. Anton Von Klopper is one of the area’s most in-vogue producers, crafting trendy, natural wines. The vines are grown organically (uncertified).
The grapes are vinified with little intervention. Once destemmed, they ferment in open vats and are stirred by hand every few days for three weeks. After this, the wine is matured in 500-litre oak casks. No sulphur is added during the process and the wine is not filtered.
In the glass, this Pinot noir has a deep, purple colour, dominated by notes of red fruit (redcurrant, cherry, strawberry). This cuvée is wild on the palate with a supple profile and a pleasant acidity. A wonderfully different experience if you’re used to French Pinot noir!
