Rioja DOCA Reserva Marqués de Murrieta Castillo Ygay Gran Reserva Especial 2001
The wine
The indigenous grape varieties fermented in vats with regular punching down and pumping over. The wine was raised in American oak barrels for 19 months. This wine needs time before it will reveal its harmonious notes and cherry and aromatic herbs. Its silky texture unveils melted tannins. Superb after a few years in the cellar, with grilled meats with aromatic herbs.
About the Producer Marqués de Murrieta
Marques de Murrieta is produced in the 300ha (740acres) Ygay estate in Rioja alta, between 400 and 500 meters above sea level, refreshing the climate and enabling a long maturity of the grapes. The wines are a blend of Tempranillo, Mazuelo and Grenache, characterised by a great balance between acidity and a round and bold fruity palate.
