Meursault 1er Cru Perrières Coche Dury (Domaine) 2001
The wine
The Premier Cru Perrières is the Domaine’s most famous Meursault. This wine literally bursts with aromas of fruit (pear, peach) and empyreumatic notes (walnut and hazelnut). All the superlatives apply to this wine. It is perfectly balanced in spite of its texture and intensity. One of the finest white wines in the world.
About the Producer Coche-Dury
Jean-François Coche-Dury is one of the world's leading figures for the vinification of white wines. In 1972 he took over the domain from his father who built it up in the early 1920's. Over the years he acquired new wine parcels. His domain, which today covers just over 10 hectares, counts 8.5 hectares of Chardonnay and Aligoté. He uses a vinification that reinforces the natural expression of the terroir without changing it: gentle pressing, regular stirring of lees in oak barrels, 50% of which are replaced every year. His style is inimitable; he creates pure and elegant wine whose finesse and persistency are quite remarkable. His wines are renowned and sought after by connoisseurs throughout the world. All Chardonnay amateurs must taste these wines.
