Gewurztraminer Grand Cru Kessler Domaine Schlumberger 1986
The wine
Full-bodied and well-structured, Gewurztraminer is among Alsace's most well-known wines. The etymology of this grape variety's name has two roots, coming from "gewurz" meaning spicy, and "traminer" from the original "Traminer" grape variety, produced in the town of the same name (now located in Italy). Gewurztraminer's intense bouquet develops an amazing aromatic palette consisting mainly of exotic fruit (pineapple, banana, mango, kiwi), flowers and spices. This powerful wine, whose alcohol content can reach 14%, can be slightly sweet. It has an exceptional longevity.
