An Argentinian white wine from a remarkable terroir, combining lively citrus fruits with delicious aromas of fresh pastries.
More infoThis cuvee is proof that Argentina, known as the land of Malbec, has the potential to produce whites of a quality that is second to none. The Chardonnay grapes originate from a few scattered vines in part of the prestigious Adrianna vineyard in the Uco Valley. Located 1,450 metres above sea level, this plot of only two hectares enjoys unique climatic conditions. Sitting on an ancient riverbed strewn with gravel and white stones, the grapes thrive off of sunny days and cool nights as well as optimal drainage, ensuring a long period of ripening.
Once harvested and pressed, the juices ferment in oak casks and are then aged in barrels for between 12 and 16 months.
In the glass, the wine reveals an intense golden straw-yellow colour. On the nose, the floral bouquet is complex, with hints of gardenia and lilies. The aromatic range is rounded off by a subtle minerality, typical of the terroir. The mouthfeel is particularly lively, with pronounced citrus fruit mingling with a creamy texture redolent of brioche and toasted almonds. The small number of bottles produced ensures this cuvée is an exceptional addition to any cellar.

About the Producer Catena Zapata
Although the Catena Zapata is in Argentina, its roots lie in Italy. In the early 20th century, the Catena family fled the famine in Italy, settled in Argentina and established a vineyard. It has been handed down through the generations and has seen a number of experiments over time. Nicolas Catena was the first person to introduce European vine growing techniques to Argentina and was a trailblazer in the vinification of Malbec and growing vines at altitude. The domaine owes its sound reputation to the cultivation and vinification of top-flight Malbecs and its innovative high-altitude Chardonnay production.
