Probably Jacky Blot's finest Bourgueil (and also one of the rarest), made in a clean and elegant style.
More infoPerrières is simply one of the most beautiful plots of the Bourgueil estate. And the smallest, meaning that bottles of this cuvée, while not necessarily rare, can be difficult to source. A 0.8-hectare surface area on clay slopes on south-facing limestone. The vines are meticulously cultivated, with precise harvesting and vinification that is free from artifical additives, almost identical to the Le Haut de la Butte cuvée. The ageing process differs slightly here, with ageing in barrels for one year (20% new barrels, 40% 1-wine barrels and 40% 2-wine barrels).

About the Producer Domaine de La Butte
Renowned and respected by connoisseurs for the quality of his white wines, Jacky Blot (who sadly passed away in May 2023) wanted to apply the same production methods to make red wines. On the hunt for good Cabernet Franc soil, he travelled around the sectors of Chinon, Saint-Nicolas-de-Bourgueil and Bourgueil, in an area of Touraine where Cabernet Franc enjoys ideal climatic conditions. Jacky Blot ended up finding 15 hectares of land, of which twelve were single-plot, all located in one of Bourgueil's most beautiful hillside slopes, south-facing and unusual for the region. The entire estate lies on calcareous sedimentary rock from the end of the secondary era. No vine roots are planted in the Loire alluvium. The soil here is exceptional thanks to the permanent presence of limestone and wonderful south-facing slopes. The entire area is planted with Cabernet Franc exclusively.
The age of vines here vary from ten years on the top of the hillock to fifty years mid-slope. As in Montlouis and in Vouvray, at Jacky Blot's other estate (La Taille aux Loups), the Bourgueil vineyard is entirely worked and treated using organic practices (cerified) and vinification is as natural as possible.
