Vin de France Chenin Orange Le Rocher des Violettes 2020

The wine

If you’re looking for something surprising, we highly recommend you try the orange wine from Domaine le Rocher des Violettes. To craft it, this talented producer grows his Chenin grapes organically before macerating the destemmed bunches for three weeks in wooden vats. No sulphur is added during the vinification process.
We recommend opening this bottle at least two hours before serving. It has a delightful, golden appearance with flecks of orange, as well as a generous bouquet of white fruit (apple, pear), flowers, quince, and marmalade. Enjoy it within its first 8 years alongside a hearty dish like crustacean, mashed potato, or goats’ cheese.

About the Producer Domaine du Rocher des Violettes

Xavier Weisskopf established Domaine Rocher des Violettes in 2005. He was born in the Oise region in 1979 and trained as a winegrower in Chablis. He continued his apprenticeship in Beaune where he became cellar master at Gigondas before creating his own property. His vineyard parcels are dotted around the commune of Saint-Martin-Le-Beau with 9 hectares in Montlouis and 4 hectares in the Touraine AOP. The vines are mature in age and Xavier Weisskopf does not use chemical fertilisers or products. Harvests are carried out by hand and every effort is made to limit oxidation and to preserve the wines’ integrity. If you have not already done so, it is well worth trying these wines which are currently superb.
