Intensity

This Chénas has a hint of mineral and an abundance of irresistible fruit. It is delicious drunk young but also benefits from a short time in the cellar, reaching its full potential five years after its production year.

More info

After being hand harvested, everything is put in steel vats (no pressing or destemming takes place). The grapes are fermented at a low temperature with carbonic gas (no sufites are used) to induce the natural yeasts. The maturation for this cuvée is separated with 30% in oak barrels, 35% in stainless steel vats and 30% in oak casks. The winemaker’s anti-interventionist mentality allows the terroir to come through in the wine. The plot of land in Papolet is situated ontop of quartz rich soil which gives the wine a certain minerality dominated by fruit flavours. This wine is delicious younf but will develop a ripeness after a few years in a cellar. This cuvée is peculiar in that the Dutraive family bought these grapes from the Thillardon family after the Dutraives lost nearly all their harvest in 2016.
