More infoA family affair for five generations, Domaine Joseph Voillot in Volnay extends across 10 hectares divided into 35 plots and 17 appellations of Volnay, Pommard, Meursault and Beaune. In 1995 Joseph Voillot went into retirement and it’s his son-in-law, Jean Pierre Charlot, who has taken up the reins of the domain. Jean-Pierre Charlot is a master of oenology, a subject he has taught for a long time in Beaune. The work carried out in the vines and in the winery is as classic as it gets, but it is all done very well. In the vineyard, the soil is worked two to three times per year, and in the winery the vinification is done traditionally and by plot, with indigenous yeasts and cap punching. The maturation periods last between 16 and 18 months, with around 25% of the casks being new. This domain is well-reputed for the finesse and perfect balance of its wines. This cuvée offers beautiful aromas of red fruits and pepper. It is supple to taste, structured by fine tannins and underscored by a pleasant freshness and a long finish.
