Lot presentation

Château la Dominique Grand Cru Classé 1988

The wine

Richly-coloured, intense, very ripe and full-bodied, this wine deserves better than its current classification. Note that a micro-vineyard has been created, Saint Domingue, planted exclusively with Merlot; the wines are produced with the same care as La Dominique. Of a very high standard, only 6,000 bottles are made a year.

About the Producer Château la Dominique

Chateau La Dominique was mentioned in Saint-Émilion at the end of the 17th century and has belonged to the Fayat family since 1969. Clément Fayat has now stepped down in favor of his son Jean-Claude. Benefitting from an excellent terroir of gravelly limestone and clay, Château La Dominique stands not far from Cheval Blanc and produces wines of excellent quality, thanks to the rigorous care that is applied in the vineyard and during vinification. The chateau inaugurated a new red and spectacular cellar designed by the architect Jean Nouvel. Clément Fayat, owner of the chateau, has also created the gourmet restaurant La Terrasse Rouge, where you can eat between Petrus, Gospel, Angelus and Cheval Blanc on the roof of the new building.
