This "En Caillerets" Volnay is the first cuvée from the Pousse d'Or domain to be vinified and matured in amphorae. The Pinot Noir grapes are produced on vines of between 30 and 50 years of age, which are grown in limestone-marl soil with limestone-clay scree. Full-bodied, dense, aromatic and complex, this Volnay Premier Cru reveals a mineral structure that lends it an attractive freshness. It is a wine for keeping that will benefit from being opened one hour before being served at 17°C, revealing the potency, virility and elegance of its tannins. This Volnay Premier Cru is a flagship wine from this emblematic Côte de Beaune domain.

About the Producer Domaine de la Pousse d'Or

The famous historical domaine of Volnay, the Pousse d'Or has an exceptional vineyard with many premier and grand crus. Previously owned by Gérard Potel, it is now in the hands of Patrick Landanger. The vineyard tends to come close to organic farming and the winemaking process is carried out smoothly, in the most natural way possible and élevage is understated (with a low proportion of new casks). The quality of this work means they can produce wines with remarkable aromatic expression and excellent aging potential.
