Lot presentation
Irouléguy Arretxea (Domaine) 2004
The wine
Irouléguy is one of the smallest wine producing areas in France, in the north of the Pays Basque; the vines are scattered among the mountain hillsides between the communes of Irouléguy, Saint-Étienne de Baïgorry and Anhaux. It has a rich past, closely associated with the pilgrims on the Santiago de Compostela route, which in the Middle Ages went through Saint-Jean-Pied-de-Port and Roncevaux. Made from Tannat, Cabernet Franc and Cabernet Sauvignon, red Irouléguy is a very good wine for laying down. It is characterised by notes of spices and wild flowers, mixed with red and black fruit, humus and undergrowth. Full-bodied and long, these are refined, well-structured wines.
