The wine
The "Part des Anges" ["Angels' Share"] is the poetic term used to describe the evaporation that occurs when Cognac is left to age in barrels. The term now refers to a yearly gathering, bringing the men and women of Cognac together for a charity event.
This year, the "Fée du Paradis" is representing the 4th edition of an event that was founded by the Interprofession du Cognac in 2006.
This auction sale offers collectors the opportunity to bid on truly exceptional, even unique, bottles of Cognac offered up by generous donors. Profit from sales will be donated to the Fondation de France.
A design created especially for the HARDY house by Baccarat in 1969, this "Cassino" carafe houses a Fine Champagne blended by Mr Francis Hardy before he became mayor of the city of Cognac, while he was working as cellar master at the eponymous HARDY wine estate. The blended eaux-de-vie were distilled when Francis Hardy became the"nose" of HARDY, following WWI This design was thought up with the Japanese market in mind, and was the house's very first HARDY crystal carafe. This sole remaining unit was kept along with its Japanese-designed box in the HARDY coffers, and it was a complete and utter joy to show it to informed collectors at the Auction Sale 2009.
