A fine, cellaring wine from an estate rich in traditional knowledge. To be aged for 15 to 25 years.
More infoDomaine Giuseppe Mascarello started producing wine over 150 years ago and had a real change in direction in the early 1900s as it acquired vineyards within what is now the highly sought-after Barolo terroir. The estate produces this Barolo using Nebbiolo grapes, which are grown in the Sottozona Perno vineyard, located in the Monforte d’Alba district. The grapes, which are harvested by hand, undergo traditional fermentation using the submerged cap method. The wine is then left to age for 30 months in average-sized Slovenian wooden containers.
This wine is made to be stored in the cellar for anywhere between 15 and 25 years. It has an incredible ruby red colour, revealing an elegant and complex bouquet, rich with notes of red fruits, dried flowers and cherry liquor. The tannins are silky yet firm, and its fine and natural acidity animates the wine, offering a wonderful palatability to finish.

About the Producer Giuseppe Mascarello
A wine producer for over 150 years, the Mascarello family bought its first vines in Monprivato, one of the top Barolo terroirs, in 1904. In 1919, Maurizio Mascarello acquired an old ice cellar from the 18th century which he transformed into a cellar, offering the ideal conditions for maturing and conserving wines. Each generation leaves its own mark on the Guiseppe Mascarello winery. Today, Mauro Mascarello with help of his wife and son tends to the 15 hectares, separated out into several plots. Producing blends until the 1960s, Mauro Mascarello then decided to favour plot-by-plot vinification and specifying the name of the village and parcel on the label, thus shining a light on the different ways to present the terroirs. The domain offers twelve bottles of wines, one of which is Monprivato, an historic plot that they nearly solely own.
