Intensity
A Spanish Grenache in all its splendour, combining character and subtlety.
More infoThis red wine, Rozas Premier Cru, is the product of Comando G, a project to recover old Grenache vines in the Sierra de Gredos. The vineyards lie on granite soils at between 900 and 1,000 metres altitude, covering three hectares in the municipalities of Cadalso de los Vidrios and Rozas de Puerto Real. Comando G uses biodynamic agriculture to reflect the identity of the terroir.
This wine has distinctive juiciness, depth and minerality, with an intense but delicate Grenache character. With notes of red fruit, spices and a complex finish, this is an outstanding Grenache, reminiscent of certain great Burgundy vintages.
The grapes are harvested by hand and then fermented whole with natural yeasts in French oak barrels, with gentle maceration. The wine is aged for 12 months in 500-litre French oak barrels.
It goes perfectly with dishes such as pigeon in cream sauce, lamb shank confit and beef and prune tagine.

About the Producer Daniel Gomez Jimenez-Landi
Daniel Landi and Fernando Garcia are childhood friends. They decided to crzeate Comando G in 2008 in the mountainous Sierra de Gredos region, not far from Madrid. The went on the search for vineyards planted in the most difficult, remote areas. Garnacha (Grenache) is their grape variety of choice, and their ambition is to make wines which rival the elegance and finesse of a Burgundian Pinot Noir or a Syrah from Hermitage. The 10-hectare domain is entirely biodynamic, and the vines aged 50 to 80 years, planted between 850 and 1,200 metres of altitude on soils of sand, granite, ardoise and quartz. The combination of well-draining soils, high altitude and a clement micro-climate guarantees a long growing season, wines which are not too high in alcohol and extremely refined.
