Château Yvonne charms us with this supple and elegant Saumur-Champigny.
More infoChâteau Yvonne surprises us once again with this Cabernet franc from the Saumur-Champigny appellation. These vines are grown in chalk-rich soil and harvested by hand before being transported to the winery in small boxes. The domain chooses to vinify in 50-hectolitre concrete vats where the indigenous yeasts get to work for four weeks. The wine is matured for a year in 38-hectolitre foudres.
In the glass this cuvée has a ruby red bouquet, a nose carried by notes of red and black fruits, and a fine palate structured by silky, supple tannins.
We recommend serving this cuvée with a dish involving grilled meat, for example.

About the Producer Château Yvonne
Located in the village of Parnay along the banks of the Loire, Château Yvonne dates back to the 16th century with its winemaking roots traceable to 1813. In 1997, the estate was acquired by Yvonne (after whom the château is named) and Jean-François Lamunière, who re-established the vineyard with guidance from Françoise Foucault (wife of Charly Foucault from the iconic Clos Rougeard).
In 2007, Mathieu Vallée took over the estate. The son of a winegrower, he gradually expanded it. Today, he tends 19 hectares of vines, 6 planted with white varieties and 13 with red, cultivating Chenin Blanc, Cabernet Franc and Pineau d’Aunis. Organically certified since 1997, the grapes are harvested by hand.
The work in the winery is also very natural, with as little intervention as possible. Fermentation take place using indigenous yeasts and malolactic fermentation is spontaneous. Mathieu Vallée's talent is gradually becoming established given the quality and consistency of his wines, even in difficult years. Château Yvonne has firmly established itself as a reference in Saumur.
