Echezeaux Grand Cru En Orveaux Dominique Mugneret (Domaine) 2013
The wine
Echezeaux is one of the legendary vineyards overlooking the village of Vosne (in the commune of Flagey-Echézeaux). The word chesaux has Gallo-Roman roots, and referred to a group of dwellings, probably an ancient hamlet. The vines of Echézeaux divide the hillside between the Clos de Vougeot and the premier crus of Vosne. It is a powerful, full-bodied wine, but with a typical grand cru velvetiness. After 10 to 15 years' cellaring, the masculine tannins soften to give way to great distinction.
About the Producer Dominique Mugneret
Dominique Mugneret, in addition to his domaines, operates three of the largest terroirs on the Côte de Nuits: Les Saint Georges (premier cru in Nuits), and the grand crus Richebourg (in Vosne-Romanée) and Clos de Vougeot. He is a wine grower who produces wines of great distinction, which testify to the magnificent terroirs from which they are derived.
