La Tour de Bessan 2009
The wine
On tasting, the domaine’s top wine is richly redolent with liquorice, violet and Morello cherry and roasted or wild strawberry notes, depending on the vintage. The velvety tannins balance out the fine fleshy feel on the palate.
About the Producer La Tour de Bessan
La Tour de Bessan, situated in Margaux, now belongs to Marie-Laure Lurton, who also manages the Villegeorge and Duplessis châteaux, which are both in the Médoc. Classified cru Bourgeois since 2003, the wine is grown on parcels of deep gravel dating from the Quaternary era. Since 2012, the inclusion of Petit Verdot in the blending of this fine wine has enhanced its aromatic complexity.
