About the Producer Château Olivier
Château Olivier, located in Léognan (Pessac-Léognan appellation) and the building classified as an historic monument, is one of the oldest properties in the Bordeaux region. Since the 19th century, the estate has been in the ownership of an old Bordeaux family, the Bethmanns (of German origin). Jean-Jacques de Bethmann is the current owner and Laurent Lebrun the technical director. The 60 hectare vineyard benefits from its wonderful location. Its soil of Garonne Günzian gravel is planted on the higher part with red grape varieties. On the remainder of the plot, richer in clay, white varieties are planted. The red Graves produced are tannic and concentrated. They develop aromas of dark fruits with hints of tobacco and roasted herbs. The wines are well-balanced and very pleasant. This estate is part of the most renowned in its appellation, and it was also classified as a Grand Cru of Graves in 1953.
