A powerful, robust, show-stopping Grand Cru, showcasing the essential.
More infoLocated over 15 kilometres south of Dijon, in the heart of Burgundy’s winegrowing landscape, the Pinot Noir vines benefit from little sunshine on the south-east and south-west sides of the Côte. The gently sloping, somewhat reddish soil consists of limestone, marl and potash. In the winery, human intervention is minimal to ensure the terroir expresses its personality naturally. The lengthy winemaking process concludes with careful ageing in casks, 60% new, providing structure, length and balance to the cuvée.
The intense purple colour, enhanced by dark reflections, promises an expressive bouquet. The nose is indeed ample and generous, bursting with aromas of blueberries, redcurrant and kirsch, complemented by hints of violet and undergrowth. On the palate, the pepper and liquorice aromas are perfectly integrated in a velvety texture.

About the Producer Domaine Kuheiji
Nestling 17 kilometres south of Dijon in the heart of Burgundy wine country, the estate is located in Morey-Saint-Denis. The vineyard’s roots lie in the incredible challenge undertaken by Kuheiji Kuno, owner of the Banjo brewery. He had been selling tasty, traditional sake since 2006. In 2013, he decided to travel to France to mount an ambitious project to create a powerful alchemy between wine and sake, by switching the brewing techniques specific to each beverage. The challenge was considerable, and Kuheiji Kuno acquired his first plot in 2013 in Morey-Saint-Denis, followed by a winery in 2015. The estate cultivates over two hectares of vines on east facing slopes at an altitude of around 250 metres, on limestone and clay soils. Be it wine or sake, Kuheiji Kuno applies the same philosophy, aiming to express the flavours of unique terroirs.
