Lot presentation

Gevrey-Chambertin 1er Cru Estournelles Saint-Jacques Humbert (Domaine) 2004

The wine

This wine has a ruby colour: the nose produces aromas of licorice and black berries. On the palate, the wine is full bodied, with attractive tannins which suggest great laying-down potential.

About the Producer Humbert

Frédéric Humbert and his brother Emmanuel have been at the head of the family domaine since 1989. The family has many wine growers and their cousins are none other than the Dugats. The 7 hectare domaine is based on ideally located plots in the village of Gevrey, including: villages, premier crus and a plot of Charmes-Chambertin. The Humbert brothers bet that they could make the wines a little more full-bodied than their neighbours. The wines thus have a slightly darker colour and are very intense on the palate. Red wine takes sixteen to eighteen months to mature and the wines have great aging potential. The range has continued to gain in definition in recent years. All the cuvées are thus of excellent quality.
