Terre Siciliane Eduardo Torres Acosta IGT Versante Nord 2017
The wine
A young wine maker from the Canary Islands, Eduardo Torres moved to Sicily in 2012 to join Arianna Occhipinti, a big name on the island. There he learnt all the secrets of growing Nerelo Mascalese, the Sicilian varietal par excellence. After a few years, he acquired two parcels at around 600 metres of altitude with soils rich in lava. Around 80% of the vines are Nerelo Mascalese and the rest are indigenous varietals. Eduardo Torres harvests his grapes by hand, leaving around 10% of the bunches stemmed to bring a floral aspect to the wine. The juice is fermented in concrete vats before a 16-month maturation in Slovenian oak barrels. Beautifully aromatic, this cuvée will delight with its richness and elegance. A wine that can be kept in the cellar for around 10 years or enjoyed straight away!
