About the Producer Château Magdelaine
Surrounded by Château Canon, Tertre-Daugay, La Gaffelière and Belair, Château Magdelaine's vineyard has two distinctive features - its soil, with a limestone plateau and clay slopes, and substantial height variations ranging from 25 metres to 75 metres. Magdelaine's wines, which have the highest proportion of Merlot in Saint Emilion, have acquired an excellent reputation thanks to JP Moueix, who purchased the property from the Chatonnet family in 1952. As Château Magdelaine and Bélair-Monange's vineyards have been merged, Château Magdelaine no longer features as a Premier Cru Classé B in the list of Saint Emilion's grands crus classés, following a revision in 2012.
