Chambolle-Musigny Albert Bichot 1985
The wine
It is possible to trace the Bichot family back to 1214, to the time of the first crusade. This historic business, which was founded in Burgundy during the 1830s, is renowned for bringing together about 100 hectares of top-quality vineyards, which include some of the best Crus in Burgundy. Among them are a sublime Richebourg, a legendary and rare Malconsorts Premier Cru from the heart of the Vosne-Romanée commune and numerous Chablis Grand Crus.
This estate, which acquired the majority of its land in the 1960s, has produced top-quality wines since 1996. This occurred under the management of Albéric Bichot who initiated the move to growing the vines organically, showing complete respect for the Burgundy soil and the Burgundy terroir.
High-quality wines are produced there. This Chambolle-Musigny was fermented for about 28 days before being aged for more than a year in barrels with about 35% of them being new ones. Tasting reveals an elegant wine which releases beautiful flavours of smoke, coffee and vanilla as well as being powerful and velvety, showing off all its delicacy.
About the Producer Albert Bichot
Albert Bichot is an illustrious maison of Burgundy. The family settled in Burgundy in 1350 but it was only in the 19th century that it became interested in the vine and vineyards. In 1831, Bernard Bichot developed a trading house in his name. Since 1996, Alberic Bichot (6th generation) has been working to raise the quality of wines produced. He acquired many plots, meaning that the maison now has 100 hectares of vineyards. Here we find the Clos Frantin on the Côte de Nuits, the Domaine du Pavillon and the Domaine Adélie on the Chalonnaise coast as well as the Domaine Long Depaquit in Chablis. These wines are certified as organic. At the same time, the maison carries out its trading business by purchasing only carefully selected grapes. The wines are all vinified in Beaune under the leadership of the very talented Alain Serveaux.
