Cuvée Brut Salon 1966
About the Producer Salon
Maison Salon was founded in 1760 by François Delamotte. It came under the ownership of the Laurent Perrier Group in 1988 and is totally unique. It produces just one champagne, the "S" cuvée. This top-class Blanc de Blancs was created at the beginning of the 20th century. The champagne is single variety (100% Chardonnay), single terroir (la Côte de Blancs) and single cru (100% in Mesnil-sur-Oger). In actual fact, it is produced from a single hectare parcel, "le Jardin de Salon", and 20 small parcels in Mesnil sur Oger which were selected by Aimé Salon himself at the turn of the century. This champagne is only produced in exceptional years and always has a vintage. The wine is kept on the lees for 12 years and disgorged manually, only ever to order, just before shipping. Barely more than 30 vintages have been produced commercially since it was founded. Highly sought-after by overseas champagne lovers (80% of sales are completed outside France), this Chardonnay grand cru is one of the most iconic champagnes.
