Lot presentation

Chassagne-Montrachet Vieilles vignes Pierre-Yves Colin Morey 2021

The wine

It must be said that Domaine Pierre-Yves Colin-Morey has forged a superb reputation for itself at the heart of the Côte de Beaune. These wines are the result of responsible growing and low-intervention vinifications, and they are subtle in character thanks to a maturation in large containers.
The Chardonnay that makes up this cuvée benefits from an oceanic climate and soil rich in chalk and marl. In the glass this cuvée has a pale, yellow hue. Its aromatic bouquet is complex, with notes of white-flesh fruit such as pear, apple, and peach, hints of citrus, nuts, gentle spices, brioche, and butter. These aromas introduce a palate that is equally complex and dense. This is lifted by a fine acidity and striking minerality that promises gastronomic food pairings and good ageing potential.

About the Producer Pierre-Yves Colin Morey

Created in 2005, the Pierre-Yves Colin Morey domaine extends over 6 hectares on the Saint Aubin and Chassagne-Montrachetet appellations. After learning about his father's domaine (Marc Colin), Pierre-Yves decided to start his own domaine with his wife Caroline Morey. Mentioned by the specialised press as one of the "most gifted winemakers of his generation" (Revue du Vin de France), his wines, mostly from Chassagne, Meursault and Saint Aubin, must be discovered. Pierre-Yves Colin runs this small domaine with his wife Caroline, completing the production by buying grapes (one third of the volume). In the vineyards, responsible and sustainable farming prevails and in the winery, vinification needs little intervention. One of the strong points of this field is the élevage, which is mainly in demi-muids and is very subtle. This name, widely recognised by fans and professionals, is undeniably a safe bet!
